- 4 cups flour
- 1 cup butter or margarine
- 1 lb brown sugar (or ½ lb white and ½ lb brown)
- 2 cups boiling water
- 1 cup molasses (not Blackstrap)
- 2 tsp baking soda
Combine flour, butter, and brown sugar. Mix until fine crumbs. Reserve 1 ½ cups crumbs for topping. In large bowl, mix molasses, water, and baking soda. Add gradually to remaining crumb mixture. Mix well. Pour into greased 9×13” pan. Top with crumbs.
Bake at 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes.
